The chicken project began with my daughter, my husband and the neighbour. This idea came about to have our own chickens when our municipality began to allow back yard chickens. The neighbour just so happened to teach a class where she brought in eggs and hatches them.  She offered the chicks to us and this began a yearlong project of building the coup – a bit at a time. On the May long weekend our 2 week old chicks arrived. They were bigger than we expected so a make shift brooder was pulled together by husband. The chicks were too small to put outside so they are in the basement. Yes, in the basement.

Almost One Year Later …

The Chickens are outside  and we have three of the original 5 chickens.  Fluffy, Austin and Calvin.  They are good girls, great layers and so much fun in the garden.
